Executive Director’s Message
Amie Miller, PsyD., Executive Director
Building effective systems to treat the most vulnerable Californians is our “true north” at CalMHSA. During 2024-25 fiscal year, we viewed the shifting public behavioral health landscape as an opportunity to further pursue the path toward ensuring Californians receive the right care, in the right place, and at the right time.
We’re proud to share here a summary of our many priorities and accomplishments on behalf of county behavioral health departments throughout 2024-25.
Over the past year, we’ve taken multiple approaches — including our ongoing partnership with DHCS to help you address new challenges resulting from the enactment of Prop.1. That partnership has generated a full suite of training and technical assistance aimed at the fresh set of workforce demands, funding shifts and restructuring that affects the way you provide care.
Other achievements over the past year include expanding the behavioral health workforce with more than 6,000 Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists; capturing and analyzing data to inform decisions, track progress, and report results for county behavioral health systems; deepening the capacity of a semi-statewide EHR that truly serves public behavioral health; and reaching millions of Californians with messages of stigma reduction and mental wellness.
CalMHSA values its deep-rooted partnerships across all 58 counties. We are honored by the trust counties place in us, your partnership in bringing bold ideas to fruition, and the ongoing opportunity to improve lives through your heroic work. We look forward to another year of collaborating toward our shared goals.
