New BHIN Issued on Requirements for Medi-Cal Peer Support Benefit

A Behavioral Health Information Notice (BHIN) issued April 4 — BHIN 25-010 — includes requirements for the Medi-Cal Peer Support Services benefit, the Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist provider type, and state standards for Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification Programs, including the steps counties that opt in must take to implement these programs. As the certifying entity, CalMHSA will implement all updates and requirements introduced in BHIN 25-010.
Additionally, for counties’ reference, CalMHSA has outlined the key County Plan-specfic changes and responsibilities introduced in this consolidated guidance.
